Sorry the place is a mess...

It's good to be back in the studio after a two week vacation. I've been working on some new pieces, full of bright, shiny colors. Check back as the collection grows to see what's new. Later.

American Made at Cassel Gallery

This Saturday at the Cassel Gallery, Goorin Brothers presents American Made. They just released their new line of American made hats and what better way to celebrate than an art show! If you are in the San Francisco area, be sure to check it out.

Above are the pieces I did for the show. The colorful ones are a set of 5"x5" wood panels titled "Signs of the Times". To accompany that is a black and white painting of our presidents of the past and present! It's 16x16 gouache on wood. Gotta love that Van Buren!

Goorin Bros. proudly presents the closing reception for American Made. Gallery art exhibition and musical event featuring: Prarie Prince, Richard Colman, Reyes, Steel, Amanda Lynn, Chez, Andy Stattmiller, Jurne, Luke Stewart, Lucien Shapiro, Margaretta, & Magdalena Gross.

Man cave art!

Thelonious Monk. Mixed Media on 12" Vinyl Record.

Miles Davis. Mixed Media on 12" Vinyl Record.

John Coltrane. Gouache on 12" Vinyl Record.

Me and Uncle Matt (Man cave dweller).

Usually when you hear "cave art" you think of horses and rhinos and other gnarly beasts drawn 36,000 years ago deep in the damp caves in the South of France. Well, this ain't that kind of cave, this is the man cave! Here you will find paintings of some of jazz's greatest, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, and of course Thelonious Monk. Uncle Matt is quite a music aficionado. His cave is surrounded with classic vinyl from circa 20th century A.D. Dwellers of this man cave have been seen playing the game of billiards while drinking Kentucky bourbon and listening to these well preserved musical artifacts on the phonograph record player.

Back Door! A MUNI bus show. Opening Night.

Thanks to everyone who came out to check out the opening of Back Door at Fabric8! There was lots of good food and good people to make for a memorable evening. I painted 27 pieces for the show, over the course of six months. Being car-less here in San Francisco has forced me to ride the bus. MUNI is one of the best places to people watch, and you just never know what you're about to get into when you set foot on one. So to use the bus as an environment for a painting, well, there is just endless amounts of material there to work with. I'm already thinking of ideas that I should have done (I'll just paint some more later).

Click here to see all the pieces from the show!
